Give, Save, Spend
Think about it
What happens first in your house: giving and saving, or spending?
Myth
There will be something left over to save at the end of the month.
Truth
Most households only save what they set aside before the spending starts.
The idea
Give, save, spend is an order, not a formula. Move the first two amounts first, in whatever size fits, and let the rest live inside the plan.
Making the transfer automatic takes the decision out of a busy week, which is when saving usually loses.
Example
A family sets two small automatic transfers on payday, one to give and one to savings, for amounts small enough that nobody misses them.
My takeaway
One sentence, saved privately to your plan. Optional.
Ask yourself
What small amount could be given or saved first this month?
One move
Set up an automatic transfer for our give and save amounts
